Bring your history

Copy the mail already in a mailbox into DMU Mail, from the last month to everything. You choose where each folder goes, and nothing at your provider is moved or deleted.

Adding a mailbox: the Servers step.

What it does

Years of mail, in place

  • Choose how far back

Bring in everything, the last year, 6 months or the last month, from the folders you tick.

  • Folder by folder

Send each folder’s mail to the Inbox, Closed, Trash or Spam, and give it labels on the way.

  • Newest first

Recent mail arrives almost at once, and older mail follows in the background.

  • Safe to repeat

Anything already in DMU Mail is skipped, so running an import twice never duplicates mail.

How it works

Copy it across

  1. 1

    Choose the folders

Folders with mail are ticked for you, but not Trash or Spam. Sent mail is filed as sent and drafts as drafts.

  2. 2

    Say where each goes

Archive folders go to Closed by default, so your Inbox only gets what was in the server’s inbox. Add labels if you like.

  3. 3

    Start, and carry on

Close the page if you like, as the import keeps going. Stop it at any point and what has arrived stays.

Good to know

The details

Who can use it
Administrators for a shared mailbox, and the owner for a private one.
Where
On the Import step when you add a mailbox, or Import on the mailbox’s row in Settings › Mailboxes.
What changes
DMU Mail only copies. Imported mail arrives marked as read.
In the queue
Imports run on their own, so they never hold up new mail. One that has to wait shows its place in line and roughly when it will start.
