Private inboxes

Your own mail, in a mailbox only you can open. Not even administrators can read it, and it sits beside the team’s shared inboxes in the same app, with the same views.

The inbox, with shared and private mailboxes in the sidebar.

What it does

Yours alone

  • Only you can read it

Nobody else can open it. The database enforces that, not just the screen.

  • Administrators see that it exists

They see whose it is and whether it is connected, never its mail or its settings.

  • Your Inbox, in one place

Your Inbox shows your private mail along with what is assigned to you from the shared inboxes.

  • Share it later

Share it with everyone or one team. Old mail goes too, and only an administrator can make it private again.

How it works

Private from the start

  1. 1

    Add your address

Open Settings › Mailboxes and choose Add a mailbox. What a member adds is always private to them.

  2. 2

    Keep it yours

Members never see the Who can see it step, because theirs are always private. Administrators choose Only me there.

  3. 3

    Use it like any other

Search, label, snooze and reply as usual. A colleague’s search never finds it.
